It’s the beginning of the year and there’s been lot of talk about “trends.” Marketing, Brand, Social Networking, Tech. Yeah, pretty much everything.

The problem is much of what the press is calling “trends” aren’t. Trends, we mean.

Most of what they’re talking about is stuff that was disseminated six months ago. That’s problematic because six months in the marketplace is like a decade in a brand’s life.

And stuff that’s already six (now seven) months old are “market adjustments,” not trends.

The best trend? Identify things to do for your brand before they’re trends. Then when they are trends, you’ll be ahead of everyone else.
